There's nothing like having a great place to work to help with your home learning routine. It also helps if your designated area could have a quiet atmosphere, good lighting, a desk or table at a comfortable height for your child, a storage basket or bin to keep necessary supplies (paper, pens, pencils, markers, books, etc.) and access to a computer or tablet, if possible. And if you're able to create an area that can stay permanently set-up, so much the better! I mean, it's just easier on everyone when you don't have to set-up and tear-down each time. But hey, if you only have a few items on the above list, that's okay. Just work with what you have as best you can.
