The sun is shining so head outside to play! It’s a great idea for parents and children.

Recent COVID life has eliminated the over-scheduling of children and busyness of families. This is an opportunity for children to develop “play” skills which, oddly enough, require this amount of free time. The transition from organized activity to free play takes time and is so healthy for our children. Most of us would acknowledge that our kids have less free time than in days past but today, this decline in play impacts our children’s emotional well-being. Simply put, children need opportunities to explore and interact with their world on their own as well as with their peers without direction from adults. By giving your child time to play freely, you’re allowing them the opportunity to gain confidence in their abilities both physical and mental. This gained confidence increases self-esteem which ultimately causes less anxiety and depression. The end result? More happiness. And who doesn’t want an extra portion of that?

How is your family playing during this time of social distancing/isolation?
