The Outdoor Education class has been having some awesome adventures lately in Campbell River and the Comox Valley. This definitely isn't new though. What is new are the places they've gone and the activities they've participated in. A couple of weeks back in April, the class travelled to Campbell River to try indoor rock climbing. Everyone climbed! Rock climbing requires you not only to be fit but knowledgeable about climbing. The class spent three classroom sessions learning about knots, belaying and safety associated with climbing before we experienced climbing first hand. It was an awesome experience!
Then just last week, the class had the opportunity to go Dragon Boating on May 2. The Prevailing Wins Dragonboat Society very generously hosted us for an afternoon of instruction out of Comox Marina. The weather was amazing! Our students did a great job learning how to paddle as a team. The girls' boat proved to be much faster than the boys' boat!! A huge thank you to Peter Williams for organizing this event for us as well as the volunteers from Prevailing Wins for giving so generously of their time.
