To our School community,
Every six years, the Ministry of Education sends a team of external auditors to formally inspect our school. The purpose of these audits is to confirm compliance with government statutes, regulations, and policies, assure quality in educational practices, and ensure adherence to standards of learning practices.
I have just received their formal report via email, and the auditors had the following commendations for our staff and school:
- The positive Christian culture and climate permeate throughout the School, and it appears there is a significant level of communication and collaboration that exists among staff in the best interest of student learning.
- The School's thorough preparedness and readiness for the External Evaluation.
- The comprehensive curricular planning indicates teachers have fully embraced the new curriculum, including the level of understanding and approach to incorporating the First Peoples Principles of Learning into the curriculum.
- The depth and breadth of elective and academic options available to students in the high school considering the size of the school.
There were a couple of statutory & policy issues to address.
1. Our Bullying and Harassment Prevention Policy is missing a line regarding inclusion.
2. The Privacy Policy needs updating to reflect volunteers and parents
3. The Appeals Policy needs to include a level of Ombudsperson
4. One Criminal Record check is missing
5. International Student Visa and Study Permits need to be current.
6. The school is required to include student self-assessment on core competencies with year-end student progress reports.
The School is required to address these six issues on or before December 2nd. Most of these have already been remedied, so I have no concerns about meeting our deadline. Overall, I am very proud to serve in this amazing school with it's professional and talented staff, and loving and supportive families.
Congratulations and well done to all!
