For the first time in school history, the Gaglardi Senior Boys volleyball team was off to Castlegar competing in Single "A" volleyball provincials.
The boys played 3 games on Friday. They lost to Bulkley Valley 21-25, 25-21, and 13-15 in the third set. They then went on to defeat Highroad 23-25, 25-14, and 15-13. Next, they defeated Sparwood two straight, 25-18 and 26-25. All games were close and tight with excellent volleyball being played. This means they came a close second in their pool, awaiting a cross-over match from one of the top 4 teams.
They then faced the #3 ranked team in the first playoff match vs Centennial Secondary and were defeated 16-25, 21-25, and 17-25 in a best of 5 series. They went on to defeat Fernie 25-15, 21-25, and 15-12. They lost their final two games to St. Anne's, 17-25 and 20-25, and lost a re-match with Bulkley Valley in the third set.
Overall the boys placed 12th out of 16 teams and was the team that moved up in ranking the most out of all teams at the tournament. It was an excellent tournament of great volleyball, team unity, and new experiences.
