Role Description
The Head Teacher will:
- Serve as the educational leader of the school, responsible for ensuring that the educational standards of the school are consistent with BC Ministry of Education prescribed learning outcomes and school vision.
- Be responsible for teacher evaluations outlined by the Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy Teachers Contract to ensure high-quality, high-performing teaching staff.
- Ensure teacher evaluations are completed in a fair and equitable manner with a focus on improving teacher performance and student achievement.
- Foster a professional learning community.
- Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes to encourage the appropriate use of a variety of instructional/learning strategies.
- Oversee the evaluation and selection of instructional programs and materials, giving recommendations to the Director/principal.
- Establish a professional rapport with teaching staff displaying high ethical, moral and behavioural standards when working with staff, parents and students.
- Serve as a role model for staff and students, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning.
