FIELD TRIP POLICY FOR TEACHERS
Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Academy
The Director/principal must approve all off-campus field trips regardless of destination before
time is invested in planning.
Any field trips or missions trips outside of British Columbia must be approved by the Gaglardi Academy School Board and requires a lead-time of approximately 2-3 months.
All field trips, excluding walking field trips within a 1 km radius of the school will require a signed parental/guardian permission slip. Permission slips must be into the office BEFORE the trip is taken and is the responsibility of the teacher-in-charge to ensure the appropriate permissions are in place. On a very rare occasion, a parent phone call will be acceptable.
The rare occasion will only be approved on a regularly scheduled field trip within the
boundaries of the municipality.
For all field trips, the teacher-in-charge must have in their possession, the following:
- a complete attendance list of all students on the trip
- student medical records for each student
- a first-aid kit
- any relevant medicines for students at high risk for various medical
- conditions.
All accidents occurring on a field trip will be reported to the Director/principal immediately and
in writing by the teacher-in-charge using the forms available.
If the bus is required for the field trip, the correct application will be made to the School
Secretary at least two weeks in advance.
If a student leaves the field trip with a parent, the parent must personally inform the teacher-
in-charge and the office who will note the discharge of the student. Parents taking other
children along is not permitted except in rare circumstances and permission forms are signed
by the parent of the child in question and logged at the office.
This field trip policy is a part of Gaglardi Academy's Student Supervision Policy.
